Pay freezes are risk to councils
I WAS astounded to learn that Scottish councillors' pay has been frozen for another year.
I was impressed by the argument that, when our banks were in crisis, restricting the pay of senior bankers would lead to them leaving for higher paid jobs.
This argument surely applies to local government as pay freezes risk weakening our councils at a time when leadership is needed to steer us through difficult times.
