Penny pinching the MLAs' way

Published 12/01/2011

I WOULD commend your readers to visit and browse the official NI Assembly website. It contains much useful and interesting information about the workings of the Assembly and its members.

I recently checked out the details of expenses claimed by the MLAs representing my constituency of North Down and was amazed to find that one had claimed the princely sum of 14 pence for an unspecified piece of stationery. The mind boggles at how much this claim must have cost to be processed. I realise that we are living in economically challenging times but can anyone find anything claimed by their local MLAs to match, or out perform, this example of penny-pinching fiscal conduct?
