Peter Robinson at odds with Orange Order

Published 17/04/2014

I READ with interest that the First Minister and leader of the DUP Peter Robinson has declared that he would meet the Pope, should he visit (News, April 14).

I wonder where this places him and his party in relation to the Orange Order, which has already declared in 2010: "We therefore call on all the citizens of the United Kingdom, and especially members of the Loyal Orange Institution, to demonstrate their opposition to the Pope's visit to England and Scotland and to oppose any future invitation to visit Northern Ireland."
