Plain packs will be easier to fake

FURTHER to your article, 'Northern Ireland to be included in the new UK law on plain cigarette packaging' (News, January 23), introducing plain packaging will make it easier to fake packs and attract new criminals into the smuggling market, who currently do not have the expertise to counterfeit existing packs.

Illegal sellers do not concern themselves with the age of their customers, meaning the very people plain packaging is supposed to protect will have greater access to tobacco than ever before.
