Alongside hundreds of others I thoroughly enjoyed Cavalcade of Song presented by Association of Irish Musical Societies (Northern Region) in the Ulster Hall last Friday in support of Carrickfergus YMCA.
Cavalcade of Song since its inception in 1974 has been the showcase concert of the 22 member musical societies in the Northern Region of AIMS and when part of the Belfast Festival at Queens was the fastest-selling event in the festival's calendar.
On Friday, we heard the sad news that we had been present at probably the very last performance of Cavalcade. However, it is understood that there is a strong desire to carry on.
There must be hundreds of us who have been regular supporters over the years hoping that we will be able to continue to enjoy their performances for years to come.
An invitation now to AIMS for Cavalcade to take part in next year's Belfast Festival would be most welcome.
