PM's Turkey claims misguided
There is a lot David Cameron could be angry about from national debt, cutbacks and the daily death-toll from war in Afganistan.
Few would think France and Germany's acceptance of Turkey into the EU deserves such emotion. Perhaps they fear a surge in Islamic immigration, or worry about human rights concerns, disturbing foreign policies and a refusal to accept past crimes against Armenians. The PM claims Turkey guards Europe, but considering Turkey's links with Iran, Syria and Sudan, who are they guarding us from? Cyprus, perhaps? Armenia? Phew, what a relief.
