Politicians need to get on with it or pack it in

MAYBE I'm missing something, but I thought the 1998 Good Friday/Belfast Agreement was to end talks. The political parties signed up to it as a way forward out of the dark past.

Then there was St Andrews and then Cardiff and now Haass. No agreement on flags, parades and the past.

What do we actually pay Stormont for? To govern, to agree, to disagree, but to work together – not to bring some poor American and his assistant thousands of miles across the ocean to sort out playground squabbles.

Either get on with the job of governing, or give it up and pass it to the business sector and we'll show you how to run a business.

At the same time, reintroduce prescription charges, so we can pay for our hospitals.
