Politicians running a communist state

Published 23/05/2016

Judging by the manner in which permission to drill for oil at Woodburn Forest in Carrickfergus has been allowed without any consultation with the public who depend on the Woodburn reservoirs for that basic to human life - water - and the supportive attitude of many of our public representatives on the issue (some of whom make sweeping and derogatory comments, including name-calling), it would almost appear that these representatives would prefer Northern Ireland to be run like a type of communist/police state.

With one subtle difference, of course; where, in a communist state, positions are filled by party members decided by the party, a high proportion of our representatives enjoy their positions by virtue of tribal voting.
