Poor review for 'chick-lit' article

I FEEL the need to address some points raised in Harriet Walker's article celebrating the alleged decline in 'chick-lit' (Comment, September 30).

Ms Walker may not realise that, while chick-lit is easy-to-read, it is not easy to write. Ms Walker insults the many fans of chick-lit with her frankly outrageous descriptions of it, which I find clearly biased and offensive.

Every book should be judged on its own merits and readers should be free to choose what they like from a richly-stocked marketplace.
