Pope not deserving of extremists' hatred
It was lovely to see Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI enjoying his 90th birthday, while quaffing a large glass of Bavarian beer.
It's impossible to reflect on Benedict's contribution to the Catholic Church without feeling extremely angry at his treatment/caricature by extremist "liberals" in the media and elsewhere.
One need only recall his sublime talks at Regensburg University and Westminster Hall to appreciate what a gift he was to the Church.
Ironically, these speeches had the effect of eliciting irrational hatred from both liberal and Islamic fundamentalists. Birds of an ideological feather, sticking together. Anyway, we rise above these joyless zealots.
