Pope showing leaders the way forward

A REFRESHING contrast to seeing our politicians in action is witnessing the unfolding of the leadership of Pope Francis. He has been a challenging surprise.

With a tough mind and a tender heart, he exhibits in his own life the principles and practices he seeks to nurture in the lives of the people he serves.

With Pope Francis, we are experiencing a more attentive approach to the realities of today's world. He, himself, referred to the task of "rebuilding the Church".

The Catholic Church can only benefit from penetrating and disturbing questions, which, while sometimes unsettling to our most cherished beliefs, can also lead us to reaffirm them with new insight, depth and conviction.

Pope Francis is determined to release the pent-up intelligence of the people.

Our politicians should take notice.
