Pope's message an outreach to poor and needy
THERE has been some inappropriate interpretation of the efforts of Pope Francis to bring the leadership of the Church down to earth, in some cases seeing his efforts as an opportunity to reinforce traditional teaching.
Pope Francis's thoughts run much deeper. His misgivings are not so much concerned with teaching, but about mending weaknesses in the Church's capacity to learn.
His is a call to redirect and refocus our moral indignation on the plight of the poor and the marginalised; compassion should always trump conformity.
