Power of prayer yet to be proved

Published 29/07/2015

I AM delighted that Clodagh Arbuckle (News, July 23) has made a full recovery from her injuries.

However, it would surely be better if all of the credit for her return to good health was given to the medical staff that looked after her, rather than the prayers of her family and strangers, which have never been proven to help anyone achieve anything.

Similarly Zach Johnson, who won The Open golf play-off at St Andrews, was quick to credit God for his achievement.

If there is a God, I'd like to think he/she/it would be getting on with rather more important matters than deciding who wins any sporting event.

Sadly, there's no evidence of that either.
