Probation bill stalled thanks to your MPs

ON Tuesday of last week, the House of Commons voted on the Offender Rehabilitation Bill.

Napo, the probation union, has been campaigning against this bill, which splits the current service in England and Wales into two, effectively privatising the majority of the current service.

This bill does not apply to Northern Ireland; hence, it was heartening that those Northern Ireland MPs at Westminster, supported a clause to stall the Bill.

I would like to put on record our thanks to those MPs who stood with probation.

GORDON JACKSON

Secretary, Chiltern Counties branch, Napo
