Put VW's fines to positive use across the globe

Published 02/10/2015

I FEEL like an idiot for believing manufacturers' figures from VW/Audi when purchasing my diesel car.

We should now consider how best to use the enormous fines which will result from this deception.

Why not use the money to pay countries, especially poorer ones, to maintain their forests and even plant new ones?

Then the money can go towards something that will absorb the additional CO2 emissions from the culprit vehicles and needy countries will have a new source of employment and income for their populations.

Even better, why not have Volkswagen build and run solar generation plants in these countries?

It would be a crying shame if we don't use the fines that are likely to be forthcoming to achieve some positive results.
