Questions rise with the cost of new campus

IT should come as no surprise to learn that both our universities do not rank well in the Times Higher Education good university guide. Queen's is ranked 35th and the University of Ulster 55th.

I wonder if anyone could kindly explain the reason why the cost of the new Belfast campus for Ulster has now mushroomed from an initial £250m to some £305m?

I gather the university is now having to go cap-in-hand for a loan of an additional £150m from the European Investment Bank.

It would be useful if some enlightened individual could give a plausible explanation and the benefits to the surrounding area.
