Real issues are being neglected

How lovely it was for Caitriona Ruane to finally acknowledge that there is public dismay regarding the schools transfer procedures (Write Back, February 24).

Whether or not academic selection is the best practice is clearly an issue that requires attention.

Unfortunately, issues that affect our children's performance will have to wait; such as teaching quality, curriculum issues, physical and mental health, technology, funding and religion.

One could debate the issues all day, but the bottom line is that Ruane - much like the rest of our local politicians - doesn't have the necessary attributes to perform as her position requires.

Many people in the private sector reading this would agree; if we performed as the politicians have done over the last 10 years, well, we wouldn't have lasted 10 weeks.
