Religions need to be transformed
THIS year I look forward to seeing the inspiring example of Pope Francis transforming the way we see religion, particularly that represented by the Catholic Church.
The depth of self-delusion that has taken all expressions of faith off-course demands fundamental root-and-branch thinking.
The Church that so many young people have renounced is not the Church of Christ, but a man-made caricature.
Christ's purpose was not to create an institution, but to breathe life into the world we all inhabit.
Our job is not to wait for God to bring salvation, but to bring salvation to one another.
Would we not all thrive on free reflection on the mystery of God, or if of a more secular disposition, on the mystery of living?
