Remembrance or celebration?

REMEMBRANCE Day. What purpose did it serve? Were we commemorating the war dead yesterday, or were we celebrating the armed forces?

There is a difference. The day was originally introduced as a reminder of how horrific war is.

Having started as a more anti-war theme, does it now merely serve to glorify current wars?
