I read with interest Debbie McGory's letter (WriteBack September 21) that the BBC are to make a three-part series on the colourful history of the Floral Hall in Belfast from its opening in 1936 to its closure in 1973.

This series will be a ratings winner for the BBC and will bring back memories for a lot of people.

Regarding the Floral Hall, it would be great to see this art deco 1930s building restored and brought back to life as it is currently being used as a hayloft for Belfast Zoo.

Telegraph writer Eddie McIlwaine mentioned some time ago that there were plans to refurbish it, but nothing ever came to fruition.

With the dark days of the Troubles behind us, and so many improvements in Belfast, surely the time is right for someone to step in and bring this fine building back to life.

The Floral Hall could be used for dancing again, as a restaurant or for cabaret - or all three. The possibilities are endless.
