Martin D Stern (Write Back, August 12) accuses me of being misleading when I wrote of Israel's "deliberate targeting of civilians, deliberate destruction of civilian buildings and infrastructure" during its military assault on Gaza in December 2008. I wasn't.
I was quoting information provided by the fact-finding mission headed by Richard Goldstone, which, for example, presented prima facie evidence of the deliberate targeting of civilians in 11 incidents.
It should be emphasised that there have been several other investigations into Israel's actions during Operation Cast Lead by reputable organisations; such as five by Human Rights Watch and one by Amnesty International.
All found prima facie evidence of violations by Israeli forces.
