Rev Paisley made sure his insults were heard
Friday, 5 March 2010
He always claimed that the preaching of the gospel was first and foremost his calling and he only entered politics to "save Ulster from her enemies".
His son, Ian Junior, was reported in the Belfast Telegraph dated (March 3 ) saying: " I believe the people want and deserve better than the mud-slinging [Jim] Allister offers."
This is ridiculous as his father could certainly hold his own with insulting comments.
Mr Paisley spent most of his life excoriating all liberalism in the Protestant faith and apostasy - especially within the Presbyterian Church.
Paisley's prose over the years included telling the then Ulster Unionist leader Jim Molyneaux, "You are a Judas Iscariot" and saying of his successor David - now Lord - Trimble, "He is a hypocrite, a knave . . . a loathsome reptile which needs to be scotched."
I cannot help but wonder that a man who claims to be a Christian minister of the gospel could utter such false words with the intent to wound and insult another human being so cruelly.
Mr Paisley proclaimed in 1977: "I am only remaining in public life to see the thing through and, if it fails, then my voice will no longer be heard." This was ahead of a loyalist strike that proved unsuccessful! Sadly, Mr Paisley used his tongue to proclaim the gospel, but he could also use it to lacerate his opponents.

also, strange it was never (x 4) to dublin rule, but recently he was having tea and buns with the free state's pm, and overseeing the all ireland dynamic of the various north south , and NSMC.
SHAME!

observation you dont seem to know history very well. Paisley said never 4 times not three, and that was said in reference to dublin rule.
He said when the dup left the talks process in 1997 that it was because sinn fein had been admitted before they had committed to peaceful and democratic means. As all their manifestos said from 1993.
When sinn fein moved to that position of only pursuing their objectives through peaceful and democratic means they have to have their mandate recognised. Paisely didn't change !
As for the abuse claims, paisley never falsely accused others. Perhaps that ian jnr was refering to in regards to mud slinging jim.
Regarding wether it is Christian, perhaps you would like to read about Christ, "a generation of vipers" , whipping people people out of the temple, etc. Paisley was tame in comparison.

Don't refer to Paisley as a Rev. He claims to be a Christian, a follower of Christ, yet nothing but venom has spewed from his mouth.

Observation, there were 4 "Nevers", oh misnomered one.
Incidentally, where did he keep all those tongues? Was he like Dolph Lundgren with his collection of ears in Universal Soldier?

My favourite 'Paisleyism' was - "Save Ulster From Sodomy!". One has to laugh, it's as if he thought that homosexuality was on a par with cancer, or something equally as horrible.
I was never a fan of Mr Paisley, however, I admire the part he played in helping to building the relative peace that we all now enjoy. I am just very sorry that it took him, and others, so long.

Let he who is without sin cast the first stone.

And it turned out he was a man of many tongues - he betrayed his own words never, never, never.
