Rioting scenes are disgraceful

Northern Ireland is, once again, going through a bad patch in terms of community relations.

According to the PSNI, the recent riots were ‘vicious and orchestrated’. Who can doubt these claims, with more than 60 officers hurt.

It is hard to believe that a small group of bandsmen marching around in a circle could provoke the crazy scenes that were witnessed by so many people.

The Parades Commission may have jumped in far too quickly and made matters worse.

It may have been better to have waited until more time was given to mediate the matter.

Notwithstanding this, the recent scenes in Northern Ireland have been disgraceful. Let us all hope that this bad patch does not last too long.
