Rory McIlroy: We deserve peace in Northern Ireland
Great to see Rory back home. Don't waste your comments on the riots. Let's boost our Rory instead.
Rory is terrific and hopefully peace will reign in Northern Ireland. There has been enough bloodshed to last a lifetime.
People should be celebrating Rory's victory.
Rory has the personality, charisma and sporting genius to unite us. The image he projects of Northern Ireland across the world makes the good people of Ulster rightly proud. We all know the right path to a better future and, with positive images such as Rory's, we can build a positive, inclusive, prosperous and peaceful future.
If the kids out rioting put the same effort into sport, we would have some more great sport stars and great ambassadors like Rory.
Like a lot of things in life, it's parents that have the greatest influence. If the parents of youths on the Newtownards Road had the same respect for their children, we would have a better society.
Having good parents makes an enormous difference in your life. In terms of the character of a young person, I see no difference between having parents rich enough to, say, put you through four years of tennis school in Barcelona (like Andy Murray's) and having similarly supportive and disciplined, but poor parents. Rory is an ambassador for Northern Ireland.
Every country deserves peace - not just Northern Ireland.
I brought my kids up right in the middle of all that rioting and they are nothing like those headbangers that riot. It's called respect for your fellow man and Rory should keep out of this.
