Row over 'swarm' is just patronising

Published 06/08/2015

There are swarms of tourists to be found on Mediterranean beaches in the summer. The politically correct class would be undisturbed by this statement, because most of these tourists are Europeans.

Why then do they object to the term when it is applied to Africans?

This disproportionate sensitivity to African sensibilities is profoundly patronising.

Eritreans and Ethiopians had a written language centuries before Northern Europeans could boast of the same.

Isn't it time we started treating them as equals?
