Rowan is too fast to dismiss historians' role
It's strange that the notion of a role for historians in dealing with Northern Ireland's past seems to be so easily dismissed in Brian Rowan's article 'Can we really leave the past just to the historians?' (December 14).
By all means get predictable comments from a criminologist and the member of a party whose leader denies a large chunk of his own past, but Brian Rowan might have given his piece some balance by asking an historian for his or her comments on the idea.
