Safety drive to boost protection from silica dust
For anyone working with natural mineral products, dust is an inevitable by-product. Ensuring you have adequate protection from breathing in that dust is therefore essential.
Many different ways are currently being tried across industry to reduce the risk that silica dust can pose to workers' health. They include utilising local exhaust ventilation, operating on-tool extraction and using water suppression and protective equipment, such as face masks.
This week the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) is launching new free guidance to help businesses take action against silica dust.
