Salon owner has earned respect by brave stance

Published 17/04/2015

The recent attack on a young girl in north Belfast has shown how far Northern Ireland still has to go before we can become a joint community.

While society has improved in many ways, it is sad that there is a small minority of people who will go out of their way to destroy people and their livelihoods.

What benefit have they got out of this attack? This girl built a livelihood on her own, came from a different country and got to work.

How would we feel moving to another country and getting attacked in the way this young woman was? Do these thugs not have anything better to do? What do they do for a living? Do they have jobs? Or are they living on social security?

I hope this girl gets up stronger than ever before. In spite of being of a different nationality, she has earned more respect from me than these "men" ever could. It is not what is on the outside, but what is on the inside that counts.
