Secular society cannot come soon enough

Published 28/05/2015

Dr John Glenn (Write Back, May 26) reminds us that the Bible states that all in this world are sinners from birth.

I'm astonished that anyone still believes this - the idea that a newborn child is a sinner. Dr Glenn goes on to say God's law and commandments supersede all others. The law is for everyone, not just the religious, so they don't.

There are far too many people prepared to ignore facts simply because they contrast with their faith, which is defined in the Oxford Dictionary as based on spiritual conviction rather than proof. I prefer proof, so a secular society here cannot come soon enough.

Maybe then decisions can be made objectively rather than being based on any religious dogma.
