Simple approach to waiting times
Nigel Edwards, the chief executive of the Nuffield Trust, said "heads would roll" in England if waiting list figures were of the same magnitude here.
Patients in Northern Ireland are waiting at least 18 months for hospital appointments.
I am reminded of the wise words of consultant surgeon of St Swithin's Hospital, Professor Sir Lancelot Spratt MD FRCS: "The first rule of diagnosis: eyes first and most, hand next and least, and tongue not at all. Look! Have you looked?"
Perhaps those responsible for health and social care should heed his advice.
