As a parent of three children, one of whom sat the 11-Plus, another sat the Common Entrance Assessment set by AQE, while the third is still at primary school, I am interested in the efforts being made by the DUP to bring about a single testing system.
It was obvious to me as a parent that the AQE system is superior to the old 11-Plus in basing pupils' results on two out of three papers and superior to the GL one-day assessment.
I know that parents are upset by the absence of past papers for the GL system.
I hope the DUP will ensure that any single test system is up to the same standard as AQE and children are not subjected to a test which represents the lowest common denominator in political expediency.
