So where are our hospitals?

I SEE that more A&E facilities at a number of hospitals are to close. I feel that those who live in the east Antrim area have been again victimised.

When I moved to Carrickfergus from Belfast almost 40 years ago we had a hospital in Carrick; it was closed. Then our nearest was Whiteabbey. Now it is under the hammer.

I would not mind if we were brought into the Eastern Health Board area, which means the nearest hospitals are the Royal Victoria, Belfast City and the Mater - all in a 12-mile radius. Yet if anything was to happen, we would be carted off to Antrim Area Hospital, more than 20 miles away.

I am very displeased with our local politicians at their lack of effort in trying to keep hospitals with reach of their people. It is time for the politicans and the Civil Service to listen to the voice of the people.
