Source of hospital superbugs?

Some weeks ago the Belfast Telegraph carried a story entitled ‘Cleaning killers in our homes’.
It detailed various chemicals contained in washing powders, hand washes and so on.
In particular, an anti-bacterial agent, triclosan, has been registered as a pesticide by the US Environment Protection Agency and in the UK there are fears that its use is helping spread the occurrence of superbugs such as MRSA.
The article stated: ‘Triclosan is in nearly everthing, eg handwashes, washing up liquids, detergents, and deoderants.’
My biggest worry is that if the cleaning killer is in the home, what about hospitals? Perhaps there is a connection?
