'Sovereignty' in sport could led to new identity

I BELIEVE a 'sovereignty' for all sports in Northern Ireland should be created to allow the country to create a sporting identity.

This would create a philosophy which would help to produce future sporting greats for 'our wee country'.

In rugby, you would be representing Northern Ireland, not Ireland; in athletics, you would be representing Northern Ireland, not Great Britain and Northern Ireland. The same applies to Gaelic football and other sports. We should create an option to give people the opportunity to represent the country of your birth.
