Sporting action made my day

Last Tuesday, March 12, started off a miserable day, added to by the news that the first day of the Cheltenham Festival might be called off due to the weather.

However, my heart was lifted a little when later the news came that it was to go ahead.

That afternoon, I and other lovers of National Hunt racing were treated to a masterclass when Ruby Walsh rode three winners. His ride on Quevega was like something out of National Velvet.

I then sat back to watch the football match between Barcelona and AC Milan. Again the match was dominated by a genius – in the frame of Lionel Messi.

So I just want to say thank you, sport, for making what started off as a dreary, cold day into one that will be remembered by many for a very long time.
