St Patrick offers a symbol for all

The function and business of Belfast City Council is local government.

Regional, national and international affairs and business have no place in these council chambers. Nor have regional, national and international symbols any place in or on council buildings.

If a symbol of regional identity is required its place is at Stormont. The appropriate symbol to be flown at Stormont should be the Cross of St Patrick. Its inclusiveness should be acceptable to everyone, unionist, nationalist, republican, Protestant or Catholic.
