On Saturday I drove to Newcastle to take the air and raise my spirits for the New Year. The opposite was the unfortunate effect.
A large carcass of a fully-grown stag lay abandoned by the roadside in full view of all passing.
Those responsible should be ashamed and should have at least ensured its quick removal.
To compound the ugly scene, the stag had been decapitated in some gory quest for a souvenir.
What would any passing child think? What have we become?
