I refer to the letter about Jim Wells MLA's right to oppose abortion and the veiled attack on Christian morality (Write Back, August 28).
Firstly, in no way was this veiled. We are tired of Christian morality ruling our nations. Have we not learnt that religious morality controlling a nation creates divisions and separates groups?
Religion should play no part in politics. The Middle East gives a glimpse of the atrocities that a theocracy creates.
In Deuteronomy selling your daughter into slavery, genocide, killing disobedient children, capital punishment for blasphemy and genocide are all permitted.
If we are to progress at all as a nation, I suggest that we move to a state of affairs where we base politics and morals on modern knowledge instead of a 2,000-year-old book which contradicts itself one chapter after the other.
