Take jobs out of Belfast
Lindy McDowell writes about tourists, commuters and congestion in Belfast (Belfast Telegraph, November 17).
I am one of those commuters frequently stuck in traffic for hours every week from Sandyknowles into the city. Every year it gets worse and building the third lane on the M2 is not going to solve the problem. The only solution is the decentralisation of all jobs, not just Government jobs.
Over 10,000 jobs have been lost in the North West since 1998 and now we have another 1,000-odd to go in Limavady while Belfast celebrates the creation of more new jobs.
These new jobs equal more cars stuck out at Sandyknowles, more lost time and more lost revenue.
Our new Assembly members have got to remember that Northern Ireland doesn't end at Glengormley and instead of creating new jobs and congestion in Belfast, jobs should be spread throughout the country.
