Tax bottles as well as bags

Economic depression? The evidence relating to widespread and unnecessary purchase of bottled water, says otherwise. Still, if we wish to pay for bottled water, when it is freely available from taps, just as good and often better, it is freedom of choice.

But ratepayers have no choice, other than to foot the bill for collecting and recycling plastic water bottles. Surely, if it makes economic sense to put a 15p tax on plastic bags, it makes even greater sense to also apply the same tax to water sold in plastic bottles?
