Term ‘fatal foetal abnormality’ is not medical one

Published 17/03/2016

The term “fatal foetal abnormality” came up in reports of the remarks by Environment Minister Mark H Durkan.

A consultant said on BBC’s The View programme that there is no such medical term as “fatal foetal abnormality”.

Also, Antonin Scalia, recently deceased and a highly respected member of the United States Supreme Court, said that abortion was the responsibility of politicians — not lawyers.
