ONE of the points missed by Dr Richard Haass is the deep hurt felt by most unionists of the "in your face" obscenity of convicted terrorists in all levels of government; a hurt that is every bit as painful as that felt by republicans/nationalists over intrusive Orange parades, kick the Pope bands and flags.
A way out of the impasse would be for Sinn Fein to remove all those from public office who have terrorist convictions.
In return, the unionist community should be prepared to give up all loyal order marches in contested areas, abide by all new rules on parading and accept that the Union flag will only be flown on designated days. I am sure that Sinn Fein will accept that this is a "win-win" for everyone and lead by example in resolving it.
