Thank you for your kindness and generosity

I WORK for the Tall Ship Pelican. We operate as a charity based in Weymouth, Dorset, but recently visited Belfast for the Maritime Festival.

While there we enjoyed immensely welcoming the people of the city and beyond onboard.

However, as we were preparing to leave Belfast, we discovered some very serious problems with our newly reconditioned engine, which meant our stay in Belfast was extended from four days to nearly three weeks while we carried out essential maintenance.

During this period, we were absolutely blown away by the kindness and generosity shown by businesses and local authorities in your wonderful city.

Local engineering firm Boatmec kindly donated the countless hours of work they put in, the port authorities allowed us to stay on the berth we were on while we got sorted and the Harbour Police were on hand to make sure the ship was safe. OD Cars also helped out enormously.

There are so many other people we could mention, but there just isn't room.

From everyone at TS Pelican, please accept a big and heartfelt thank you. We couldn't have done it without you. And we look forward to our next visit to Belfast.

Captain, TS Pelican
