The state must support our small farms

Published 23/06/2011

The soaring use of antibiotics on farms and the associated risk to human health signals another warning about our food system.

Factory farms pump animals with huge amounts of feed to make them grow faster - including soy from South America, where its production is devastating rainforests and communities.

At home, small farmers struggle to survive as supermarkets demand more for less.

The state must support farmers and end this supermarket bullying.
