They look good but can't play
I COMPARE the Irish presidency with the All Blacks rugby team. The All Blacks are mediocre at the Haka, but excellent at playing rugby. Applying this metaphor to the Irish presidency: rugby is defending the role of the constitution and human rights; the Haka is the public relations role.
All the Irish presidential candidates are the opposite of the All Blacks - they are good at the Haka, but useless at playing rugby.
Candidates should be asked about the constitution and how they are going to help make the Dail efficient. The PR role is needless duplication with the Department of Foreign Affairs.
