Time for young people to vote for new parties

As a young 20-something from a traditional SDLP-voting family, I was totally disgusted in the actions of SDLP councillors in Newry and Mourne council last week to vote to support the naming of a children's park after a PIRA gunman.

The preaching of the SDLP on "respect" in other parts of the North reek of a callous disregard for those affected by violence. The use of the word "equality" to support such decisions is also nothing other than an insult to those who have had to fight for actual rights.

It is time for fellow young people to think for themselves and support a constructive Northern Ireland by abandoning these dinosaur political parties who only want to point-score over ancient history.
