Time to lift veil on those who fund our parties

Published 14/04/2016

In the wake of the widely publicised Mossack Fonseca episode, it is high time that all political parties in Northern Ireland reveal their political donations. The electorate has been treated like mushrooms for far too long.

We who are asked to vote on May 5 have the right to know who funds the parties here and by how much and whether they are, in fact, receiving donations either directly or indirectly from offshore funds.

I understand that it is the Secretary of State who is keeping us in the dark on political donations here.

It's time she lifted the veil of secrecy.
