Time to look at selling alcohol responsibly
All the billboards extolling the attractiveness of alcohol have a barely visible add-on advising us to drink responsibly. I wonder if it is time to promote the idea of selling responsibly, which I believe I witnessed yesterday.
As I entered Tesco Metro, I saw a man outside who was so drunk he could not stand up unaided. Having done my shopping, I came to the checkout to find this man purchasing two 2l bottles of cider, while he fell over the checkout belt.
I do not blame the young woman on the checkout for serving him, but there must be some regulation on serving drink to people who are obviously drunk?
