Before our newly-elected Westminster MPs take their seats in the House of Commons they should, where applicable, resign as MLAs from the Stormont Assembly and bring an end to the practice of double-jobbing.
Also, the positions as MLAs they vacate must not be filled, but instead their numbers should be reduced to about 30 MLAs and bring us into line with the number of Scottish and Welsh Assembly members per head of population.
Looking at some of the attendances at Stormont debates, we are lucky to see 30 MLAs there.
The hundreds of thousands of pounds that Sinn Fein get for office allowances each year at Westminster must never be renewed. If all said cuts were made it would make up for the reduction in the block grant and prevent any reduction in the NHS.
