Further to your article, 'Titanic owners pressed for fewer lifeboats: papers reveal' (Online, November 3), Titanic's owners voluntarily exceeded the minimum number of lifeboats required under government regulations.
Titanic's lifeboat plans were all submitted to the British Board of Trade during construction.
Any concerns Captain Maurice Clarke had about Titanic would have applied equally to every other passenger liner of 1912. The regulations were significantly flawed.
